Bursary Fund
In 2000 our Board of Directors established our Bursary fund program. We award art classes to deserving teens aged 12 to 16 who have been chosen as worthy recipients through application submitted by their art teacher or principal. The Forum Art is committed to award nine bursaries annually (3 for each ten week session of classes). Financial donations designated as bursary fund donations become restricted income allocated for this purpose with no administration or other expenses attached.

Nikola Bjelajac Scholarship
Nik was one of our founders & he often gave new students who couldn’t afford classes the opportunity to take some classes under his guidance. As he had created the atmosphere for learning and he wanted to do this for others, it happened fairly regularly. On occasion we have been asked if there are any funds for a class for an adult student on a very limited budget. As we are a registered charity we require fees as the basis for our revenue. But – as this was something Nik would want…

In 2009 we established the Nikola Bjelajac Scholarship. We will award one session of classes to a deserving recipient for an adult wishing to take art classes. To apply, contact the Executive Director with a simple explanation of the individuals’ situation and they will be registered for one art class for no fee. We will try to find donated art supplies for this person – but cannot guarantee all materials will be available. If there is more than one request per session the Executive Director will meet with the Art Director & several Board members to select one person. If requested a name can be put on a waiting list for the next session.

Donations

Charitable Giving
We are a registered charity and incorporated as a not for profit organization in 1964. The Forum Art depends on the generous support of individuals & businesses to help sustain our growing array of educational art programming and events. We will issue a receipt for tax purposes for any donations over 5.00 as requested. All funds received without specific designation will be allocated as needed.

Material Donations
We have been very fortunate in receiving such items as finished art in various mediums from owners, alumni or estates. Everything has helped us in stretching our operating dollar a little bit farther and if we can’t find a use for something we can usually find a good home for it or we will donate it to another art or not for profit organization.
Art related items we can use may include: stretchers and canvas for building the stretched canvas to paint on; all kinds of frames; art supplies including everything from paper, paint, brushes, glazes, hand tools, craft supplies to use in the children’s art, unusual items for still life drawing, art books and magazines. Other items may include: cleaning supplies or social supplies such as coffee.

Please contact us if you would like to sponsor an event or program for the Forum Art Centre.

Volunteer Support

Volunteer Opportunities
We value the volunteers who offer their time and expertise to the Forum Art Centre. We have received assistance with our library, our print design, cleaning and database entry over the past few years. If you have some time we are still in need of someone for regular cleaning for our clay area and a computer techie to sort lists of all kinds including class, mailing, email & exhibition. We are also in need of a computer techie to develop a gallery listing format for our website.
